Each bid includes a price, a milestone breakdown showing how the project will be staged, a proposed timeline, a scope of work explaining exactly what's included, and the contractor's portfolio of similar completed projects. If they're a general contractor working with sub-trades, you'll see exactly who's handling each part of the job — the electrician, the plumber, the tile specialist — with their own verified profiles and ratings.

The lowest price isn't always the best bid. A detailed proposal from a contractor with a 4.9 rating and verified insurance might be worth more than a vague quote that's 20% cheaper. You can see everything you need to make that call.

When you hire a contractor, the project is divided into milestones — stages of work, each with a dollar amount. You fund the first milestone, and that money is held in escrow. It's out of your hands, but it's not in the contractor's hands either. It sits securely with Stripe until you say the work is done.

The contractor completes the milestone, submits photos and documentation, and you review it. If you're happy, you approve it and the payment releases. Then you fund the next milestone and the cycle repeats.

If something's not right, you flag it. A dedicated dispute thread opens where both sides present their case. Dwell Cloud reviews everything — the original scope, the photos, the messages — and issues a resolution. Because we hold the money, we can actually enforce outcomes.
